Time for little a little pretty

Its been a funny old day (getting lots of those lately!).

In between those funny old things, I got up and barged into my craft room and finished some ATC's that are long overdue in a swap.  It felt right to give them my best attention whereas, previously, my heart was lacking in fashioning things of beauty.  I also made this from some packaging I had that previously contained a couple of pens.  It reminds me of Pip studiosSigh, Pip studios - if only my house was bedecked entirely in such beauty.

I'm now trotting off to bed to think about my evil plans to take over the world.  Perhaps draw up a hit list of people I wish to have bludgeoned to death with a flip flop and spare the ones I love the most.  Its could be a long night.

Toodle-oooooo

oh!  Before I go, any local North Westers might want to take a peek at this - never to be repeated, so grab this amazeballs opportunity!

You gotta be in it, to win it!

Kirsty and Kirstie

I've never met Kirstie Allsop.  The funny thing is that, whenever I meet crafters at events, they tell me of funny stories of when their kids say "Kirsty is on the telly", they  think I am on the telly.  But its not me.......its Kirstie Allsop.  Although, I don't mind being confused with her, who wouldn't?

So when my friend Darcy sent me a link to a fantastic Hobbycraft competition, I was excited to be pictured alongside Kirstie.  Sadly we were not in the same vicinity of the pictures being taken :(!!!  The picture of me was taken at Hobbycraft in Chester a few weeks back (demonstrating Promarkers) and even then, I didn't know the photo would end up in this campaign.

But still, the whole point of this blog post is to make you aware of the competition - so don't miss out.  Click here to be in with a chance of winning some lovely prizes!

Ladies Camera Club and SPECIAL OFFER

Tonight was the 3rd session of my ladies camera club over at my studio on Wigan.  The aim of the club is to bring women together to learn the workings of the camera plus styling, posing, composition, tricks and tips.  So far I have Jackie and Sue as my regulars but there is room for four more.  As you may have seen from yesterdays post, the studio is cosy plus there is tea and coffee on tap.  Its also private so there is no disturbance from anyone else.  Wild or what?  The class runs every fortnight for 2 hours on a Tuesday evening plus it only costs £5....a steal!

On the first night, I gave the girls some hints and tips on posing and apertures for faces.  I set them some homework and the two weeks later, Jackie presented me with the image on the left - it was beautiful.  Its of her gorgeous daughter Charlotte.  I asked Jakie if she would mind me adding a colour boost on it.  With just a swish of the wacom pen tool, Charlottes hair was given the va va voooom treatment.  Of course, it helps to zyuzz up an image that's incredibly beautiful to start with.
If you would like to get to grips with your camera and live in Wigan - you are invited to try our club out.  If you are interested, drop me a line over here.

FINALLY!
I have a very special offer for all you locals with Kiddies!

They are filling up fast as well!

Love

A peek at the studio and a little va va voom makeover shoot

Finally the studio is taking shape.  When I first viewed it, it was a hideous shade of green with blue gloss work.  I refused to be down-trodden plus I function best in projecting a future in tired looking places.  I get this studio at a fantastic rate, I have to pinch myself at how I struck this place.

So lets look at the before (winces at the vileness of it!) - Looking back at the entrance:

View from the door

View from behind the door - YUK!

View to the far corner and my little office

Before you see the transformed studio, its fair to say that I have worked like mad to save for furnishings (all second hand - the three seater, two seater and one seater leather recliners from ebay were the deal of the decade) and sectioned off the room to make a kitchen/make up counter area and behind the far door, is my dinky office which houses my props, my desk and a two seater sofa.  This is where I can hide when I rent out my studio space plus a place for Belles to hang out when she wants to come to work with me (and the pooch!)

And look at how lovely it looks now (minus the inherited carpet but I wold love to laminate that eventch)

Still in a cute little nursery mode ....note that the pooch made a "run for it" mid shot!

I was considering filling the walls with canvass images of client shoots but as I hire out the studio space, Im thinking not.  Still, I am one happy little photographer x

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand then,  today, I had two lovely girls come to the studio for a makeover shoot.  Abigail Lawrence, my majorly awesome MUA added the va va vooom.  My vision and her creative swoosh of make-uppy magic is here to make gorgeous girls more gorgeous.  Just look at how we team up:

If you would like to treat yourself to a wonderful experience; a truly luxurious makeover that enhances your natural beauty, come a book a session in time for a Christmas gift to yourself.  You will enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival, a hair and makeup session, 3 changes of clothes, lots of photos in various poses using lots of props and great lighting, 10 16x12 hand finished, hand tinted lab quality matt prints (plus the rest of the shoot on disc in low res format) for £249.  No hidden extra costs in our packages.  The packages include everything you would want from a professional studio.
- note: we do NOT airbrush our images as we feel this is unnecessary.  Instead we use awesome lighting, great angles and luxury make up

26 Nov 2012

A lovely weekend.

It's been fraught with activity but then I don't do "lounging" about these days. Yesterday I was at Crafts 4 U 2 Do (St Helens) to teach two fantastic projects to the regulars there.

Then last night Mark and I went to see Michael McIntyre in Liverpool. Ahem, the tickets were my crimbo pressie from last year, I hasten to add! We went out for tapas before the show and I went a little giddy and had wine AND cocktails. I know.......how irresponsible of me! I blind ordered a fun sounding cocktail as it was happy hour (2 for 1) and when I tried it, it set my throat on fire. HOOCH! Bloody awful, tasted like horses ass - there was a pure look of disdain etched on my face for the restaurant to wince over! The waitress laughed at me and said she'd replace them for free. We had sex on the beach instead (the drink, not a bit of "how's your father" on the Albert Dock, thank you!!!). I got a bit squiffy - an act of which has not occurred for several years, I may add.

We nipped over to the Echo arena, after that, to watch the show. It was, without doubt, tummy achingly fantastic. I do love this comedian.... Comedy gold. I laughed the whole night through and was thoroughly entertained. Thank you for my best gift ever, Marko.

Then it was back home, past the Liverpool eye, for a cuppa cha to round the night off.

Today I head straight off to demonstrate for Stix 2 at the craft shop in Clitheroe. I was demonstrating their cracker blanks amongst a number of adhesives. It was proper packed and so much fun. I thoroughly recommend trimming your own crackers this crimbo, seriously......... They're cracking. Beryl and Lauren were so kind to me. That kind of warmth makes a huge difference when you work somewhere new!

Then later this afternoon I was away home to my girl. We got ready to go out to the restaurant that she chose to go to. Miller and Carter restaurants are fantastic steak houses and the one at Parbold is heaven on a stick. She invited her nanna and pops too ......... To Ellie, dining with family is king. She didn't invite any friends because she has no friends except class mates ....... Ellie feels safe with family and likes it like that - so my anonymous reader can go and shove her ridiculous suggestions where the sun doesn't shine. Quite frankly, her tedious comments are skull numbingly unnecessary.  Bore off and leave us alone.

And there you go. Non stop action from chez Wiseman.

Aaaaaaaaaand sleep.

Hello 17

Well that crept up quick. I don't think I got over the shock of her turning 16. And next she will be 18 and that scares me more.

This little love didn't want anything special for her birthday. She is happy surrounded by us, in our bubble with a warm house and lots of love. When I persuaded her to spend some money on herself, she bought one thing for £10 and another thing for £5. Im not entirely delighted with the things she bought but she chose them and she is happy....... That's what counts.

Mark and I were out tonight. It's one of the few times we can talk about Ellie and her future. We enjoyed a meal (and a vino!! Oh and also this weird Brazilian cocktail that was like petrol combined with moonshine). We can't truly make plans for Ellie as one day, she might figure it all out for herself. I dont want to shape her into a perfect square when she might just want to be a rhomboid, you know? We just have to keep an eye on her and let her find her feet.

Although we did discuss a safety net for her future. And it hurt to do this because really, parents of a 17 year old shouldn't have to. But we did and we can use it if it's needed.

She is at her Nanna's house tonight and for the first time ever, she will wake up in a different place on her actual birthday. Things like this break her routine, which she actually needs and hopefully might jerk a change in direction. Who knows.

Whatever life throws at her at least she has the comfort of home and family to fall back on. Really, what else could anyone need more than that?

Happy Birthday, wonderful girl x

Dachshund through the snow

Well, actually, in my coat.

I love going to my studio with this fella in tow. He finds a comfy spot by my desk (usually a blanket or my coat) and he burrows but a whisker away.

I'm obsessed with him. Can't you guess why?

finding inspiration

Pinterest kills me with millions of ideas of what I could do to the house, with my life and my crafting.  I love it but often that "quick ten minutes" turns into 3 hours, by which time I have burned retina's and create a starving family.
Ive been saving these for a little while and am glad I saved hours of searching tonight. Here are some of my fave things I want to take inspiration from (click images to take you to the originating website):
I know this is pretty simple but I just love how effective it is.

My goodness, this is the most awesome card ever in the world of cards

That bow is to DIE for

Again, simple but ever so lovely

And i have a million colour combos that this would be perfect for - isnt it wonderful?

Also, whilst I'm whittling on at a ridiculous hour...........

I've just baked my fourth load this week. Belles wants to take some cake into college along with a tub of Celebrations for her classmates. I've nailed the most perfect recipe using a combo of various ingredients. I prefer to bake half butter/half stork, half sugar/half fruisana, plain flour with gluten free baking powder, one less egg and substitute that egg with milk. Have to say, the whole thing works a treat. Go me.

I'm teaching at Crafts 4 u 2 do in Dentons Green, St Helen's this Saturday and on Sunday, I'm at a craft store in Clitheroe - demonstrating for Stix 2. The things you can do with adhesive other than just "stick" is awesome. Pop along if you can.

On Monday I have two makeover shoots with my trusty MUA, Abigail Lawrence. Then Friday I have an event photography job on. Then on the 2nd, 8th and 9th Dec, I have an incredible special deal on at the studio. But more on that next week......

Until then, sweet dreams x
