Huge crafty Raffle - Saving Daisy

This is a raffle so huge, that by the time I have collated all the prizes, you need never buy a single craft item ever again, well....barely! Tell your friends, tell your family, raid the kids money box.......please, please find it in your hearts (and paypal accounts) to help raise money for Daisy Dog

The story.....A facebook friend of mine, Janey Pye (cool name, right?), wrote about an incident relating to her Jack Russell dog, Daisy, on the 17th May 2011 but today, 18th May 2011 she received the devastating news that she either find £1600 for vet bills or have her dog destroyed. I mean, you just can't comprehend anything like that, can you? In the cold light of day, being given that kind of alternative is gut wrenching. The fact that Janey has no pet insurance is of no consequence to me or indeed many of my friends, the positive in me see's to it that I and whoever else who is attached to Janey must do all they can to help her. I know its not something we all can afford but some of us go through our daily lives praying nothing happens to our pet to warrant such a huge expense.

So to help Daisy (and Janey, and Tom - Daisy's big brother... who suffers with aspergers and would simply not exist without his beloved pet, Daisy) I wanted to rally around every craft person and store I knew to donate prizes for a very grand raffle. Janey never asked me to do this and when I raised the question on my facebook page this afternoon towards my friends, many of them their offered support immediately. Nobody questioned it and so the aquarian in me set sail. Their support gave me the push, so I am grateful to them muchly.

The Prizes....So far we have the following pledges (with a potential 65 shops, manufacturers, crafters pledging more)

A Craft Robo - anonymous donation
£35 stampin up voucher from Rachel Booth
A handmade bag from Darcy Wilkinson
A private commissioned drawing of your pet/child 12x14 worth $50 by Jay Korbijn
A MME 12x12 pack, stamps, and embellishments from Dies to Die for
A selection of stamps from Personal Impressions
A £25 voucher from Hobby Craft
A donation from Studio Calico
£50 worth of product from Clever Cuts
A selection of craft supplies from Brenda Pinnick
A selection of stamps from THE Donna Downey - I know, right?
£40 worth of stash from Mei Flowers
£36 worth of stamping product from Artistic Stamper
£50 word of Crafting CD's from me
A handmade cushion from Jaki Morrison worth £20
100ml bottle of DKNY perfume from anonymous donator
£30 worth of product from Marion Emberson of Sugar and Spice Crafts
£106 worth of product from Tonic Studios
A photoshoot for the south of the country from Paula Pascual (worth £100)
A photoshoot for the north of the country from Kirsty Wiseman (worth £100)
A ton of digi product from Vicki Parker (worth £40)
A generous prize from Letraset (prob Promarkers and Aquamarkers.... im working on them!)
A specially commissioned Canvas by Dyan Reaveley at Art from the Heart worth £75
Ive twisted someones arm for a donation from QVC
Im working on Create and Craft
5 x digi stamps from Just Inklined

There will be MORE AND MORE prizes added.....this was what I could only obtain in an hour on 17th May 2011

How can you buy a ticket? ...... Anyone from anywhere in the world can buy a ticket. You must pay in pounds sterling to carry out the transaction.

The draw has now closed - you cannot buy any more tickets - Thank you to all who participated

The Draw .....The draw will take place on 3rd Jun 2011 at midday. There is one large prize and 4 smaller prizes.

Important Information.....Ive worked out that if the raffle purchases exceed the £1600 required, then the money would be split two ways towards Aspergers Society and The Dogs Trust - we might sell lots of tickets or we might fall short but either way..... there will be lots of smiley faces abound.

I have a volunteer to help officiate the accounts of this fundraiser so it is fair and square and most of all, legal. Her name is Darcy Wilkinson - she can be contacted via my email at kirstywiseman@hotmail.com. It makes me feel so much more comfortable in light of the potentially high sales of these tickets.

What a great idea, my dog had a major accident, spent 2 weeks in the vets and cost over £3,000 (no insurance), but it didn't take us long to decide she was worth every penny. Sadly she's not with us anymore but lasted till the ripe old age of 16 (she's currently my profile picture till someone takes a decent one of me!!) They are so lucky to have you as friends and the prizes so far look brilliat, I'm off to buy my tickets now! x

I hope you manage to raise what is needed to help Daisy. I have bought my tickets. Best wishes, Kym xxx

I have two daughters with aspergers who live independently - they share a dog - mojo the jack russell - he is everything to them - the little mite had an ear infection the other day and the youngest soph (21) her lip quivered and she cried her heart out as she thought it was so serious he would die...bless, he sleeps with them , hangs around them ,follows them and comforts them ... Soph will only get a shower ( she hates water) if mojo does , i know how much a dog can mean to a person who has such social difficulties... you have my two quid x

I am confused. If someone owns a dog, they should have the money to care for that dog. If not they can get vet services from an RSPCA vet for a minimal donation. There should be no reason to do such a fundraiser in this economic climate

Kirsty Wiseman said...

You are entitled to your opinion however, £2 is not a lot for some people to pay for a cause that may result in a dog being "put to sleep" otherwise. In this economic climate people are having to forgo luxuries such as pet and house insurance and that is understandable I for one will not allow treasured crafting friends suffer especially as the child of this owner has attachment issues due to aspergers.
If you can't see the good in this, then go and find some happy.

Wow Kirsty, you're amazing to be jumping to the cause so quickly, such a star, go girl. This sounds like an incredible cause, I'm a dog lover and I know just how much it would shake the world of an Asperger's child to lose their beloved pet. Count me in on the raffle :)

Aww this made me sad to see this blimey don't the vets allow it to be paid off instead of ultimately blackmail!!!! I will get on an buy some tickets and from the animal loving house (farming family in Australia) I hope all goes well for beautiful Daisy and the child that loves her so much!

Just sent a £10 donation.
I know how much vets bills can be.
My old dog - no longer with us - was costing £30 every month for her heart tablets plus every 3rd month an extra £25 just to see the vet who only said if she could stay on the tablets.
We had no insurance - but to me she was worth every penny I spent on her.
She was 17 when we had to have her put to sleep.
