The story.....A facebook friend of mine, Janey Pye (cool name, right?), wrote about an incident relating to her Jack Russell dog, Daisy, on the 17th May 2011 but today, 18th May 2011 she received the devastating news that she either find £1600 for vet bills or have her dog destroyed. I mean, you just can't comprehend anything like that, can you? In the cold light of day, being given that kind of alternative is gut wrenching. The fact that Janey has no pet insurance is of no consequence to me or indeed many of my friends, the positive in me see's to it that I and whoever else who is attached to Janey must do all they can to help her. I know its not something we all can afford but some of us go through our daily lives praying nothing happens to our pet to warrant such a huge expense.
So to help Daisy (and Janey, and Tom - Daisy's big brother... who suffers with aspergers and would simply not exist without his beloved pet, Daisy) I wanted to rally around every craft person and store I knew to donate prizes for a very grand raffle. Janey never asked me to do this and when I raised the question on my facebook page this afternoon towards my friends, many of them their offered support immediately. Nobody questioned it and so the aquarian in me set sail. Their support gave me the push, so I am grateful to them muchly.

How can you buy a ticket? ...... Anyone from anywhere in the world can buy a ticket. You must pay in pounds sterling to carry out the transaction.
The draw has now closed - you cannot buy any more tickets - Thank you to all who participated
The Draw .....The draw will take place on 3rd Jun 2011 at midday. There is one large prize and 4 smaller prizes.
Important Information.....Ive worked out that if the raffle purchases exceed the £1600 required, then the money would be split two ways towards Aspergers Society and The Dogs Trust - we might sell lots of tickets or we might fall short but either way..... there will be lots of smiley faces abound.
I have a volunteer to help officiate the accounts of this fundraiser so it is fair and square and most of all, legal. Her name is Darcy Wilkinson - she can be contacted via my email at kirstywiseman@hotmail.com. It makes me feel so much more comfortable in light of the potentially high sales of these tickets.

What a terrible situation to be in but so glad that you are doing something for Daisy. My dog Lucy is going in for a major operation tomorrow but we're lucky we have insurance so won't have that worry afterwards, just eight weeks of not leaving the house for mine!!
I sympathise completely. Insurance is so expensive.
I know how important pets can be to an aspie! I'm in! And bless you for arranging this, again, you rock!
Hope you raise enough for your dog and the charities. My mum has a Jack Russel, and I have a son with aspergers... how could I not buy tickets :D XXX

What a great idea, my dog had a major accident, spent 2 weeks in the vets and cost over £3,000 (no insurance), but it didn't take us long to decide she was worth every penny. Sadly she's not with us anymore but lasted till the ripe old age of 16 (she's currently my profile picture till someone takes a decent one of me!!) They are so lucky to have you as friends and the prizes so far look brilliat, I'm off to buy my tickets now! x
Bought my tickets - I couldnt imagine my life without my pet so my heart goes out to Janey and her family.

Im in, hopefully ill win those fab Tonic products :)
Aww bless! This is such a fab idea - I've got my tickets!
Love Beth xx
Kirsty, what an awful situation for Janey and her family to be in. I can't say I know how they feel as I haven't grown up with pets but I know I'd go to the end of the earth for my two boys and I know I'd be no different with a pet. I hope you manage to raise what is needed to help Daisy. I have bought my tickets. Best wishes, Kym xxx
What a charitable thing to do! Hope Daisy is ok now. Don't quite understand the logistics of how you'll be able to put names on tickets, but hey that's for you to work out! Some great prizes, so I'm already in on this. Jx
Kirsty Wiseman ... you rock ... a genius idea ... am off to buy some tickets!!!
Tickets bought ... linked you up on my blog post too ... Good Luck X
Can really understand why you're doing this. Even little things like worming tablets are expensive especially when you have 2 big 8months old Labradors. Dread anything happening to them.
Hope the raffle's a big success. Off to buy my tickets now.
Kat x
Good for you, Kirsty - you rock!
(I'm a bit confused, though - I'm trying to buy tickets the long way to avoid the fee bit but it looks like I have to pay a fee or you won't get the full amount anyway? Maybe I'm doing it wrong? I'll try again...)
Hope you reach your target - I would love to donate to the prize fund if you contact me
What a lovely idea! Hoping Daisy will have a successful operation and recovery really quickly. Just off to get the tickets.
I know how hard it would be for someone on the spectrum to lose a pet. Glad you are doing this so that it doesn't have to happen earlier than it needs to be. Have bought a couple of tickets and hope you raise more than enough.
What a gorgeous little dog,how could I not buy a ticket?Hope Daisy will soon be on the mend.
I am indebted to Linda E for directing me to your blog and this fabulous project. I am sure you will reach your target, what a wonderful to do - I know how previous (and expensive!) pets can be, but worth every penny. Have bought my tickets, good luck everyone xx

I am so sorry to hear this! My husband is unemployed and I did what I could, I wish I could pay for all of it! MAJOR Dog lover here! And with a dear friend with an autistic child who understands attachments....I pray he will be OK......

Hi, I'm sorry but I had to do it using the short cut but it is done!
Good luck Daisy!
Ok this is on both my blogs and on my FB as well.
And it was easier than I thought to buy a ticket the long way round so you will get all the money!
Good luck fabby Idea and well done you for getting all these donations!
I have two daughters with aspergers who live independently - they share a dog - mojo the jack russell - he is everything to them - the little mite had an ear infection the other day and the youngest soph (21) her lip quivered and she cried her heart out as she thought it was so serious he would die...bless, he sleeps with them , hangs around them ,follows them and comforts them ... Soph will only get a shower ( she hates water) if mojo does , i know how much a dog can mean to a person who has such social difficulties... you have my two quid x
I am a sucker for a cute puppy picture. Have bought my tickets :)
Hope Daisy's surgery goes well.
Awwwww look at that face! Bless her!
I've a son on the spectrum and my 11 year old terrier means the world to him, I know how it would affect my family. I'm in...even without the prize I would be...well done for pulling this together. If I'm lucky enough to win, then I'll be raffleing off a proportion of the prizes to raise some more, for both causes...there'll be follow up vet bills for poor Daisy!
*hugs* Sal x
I've tweeted and FB'ed this link :-)
I've bought my tickets, though I would donate without the prize, this breaks my heart. I sincerely hope Daisy is restored to full health soon and she has best recovery wishes from us here in Canada! I've shared over on my blog as well papercatnipcupcakes.blogspot.com
~ashley
Great idea, I've donated, please keep us up to date!
Anne

Because our dog was very ill in his first year no insurance company will accept him. So every time he sneezes we keep our fingers crossed.
I bought tickets. It's such a good cause.
Eveline.
I am confused. If someone owns a dog, they should have the money to care for that dog. If not they can get vet services from an RSPCA vet for a minimal donation. There should be no reason to do such a fundraiser in this economic climate
You are entitled to your opinion however, £2 is not a lot for some people to pay for a cause that may result in a dog being "put to sleep" otherwise. In this economic climate people are having to forgo luxuries such as pet and house insurance and that is understandable I for one will not allow treasured crafting friends suffer especially as the child of this owner has attachment issues due to aspergers.
If you can't see the good in this, then go and find some happy.
Fingers crossed you reach your goal amount. Have just purchased my ticket Good luck and love to the family
Lisa xx
Hi Kirsty
Tickets bought - good luck with your appeal - what a wonderful thing to do.
k x
Wow Kirsty, you're amazing to be jumping to the cause so quickly, such a star, go girl. This sounds like an incredible cause, I'm a dog lover and I know just how much it would shake the world of an Asperger's child to lose their beloved pet. Count me in on the raffle :)
I have two dogs of my own - one has had severe skin problems for 12 years and had I not been insured would have cost me thousands in vet's fees. So glad to help so have just bought my tickets.
wow kirsty you must be the best friend on the planet...i'm in...and let me know if you ever need a new *bestie* ;0)
good luck!!
I've just bought my tickets too! This is a wonderful idea.
I hope you raise enough for Daisy.
Good luck!!
Kristy, you are really a good person. I salute you!
Aww this made me sad to see this blimey don't the vets allow it to be paid off instead of ultimately blackmail!!!! I will get on an buy some tickets and from the animal loving house (farming family in Australia) I hope all goes well for beautiful Daisy and the child that loves her so much!
Just bought my ticket, hope that you raise lots of money to help Daisy, love Jacky x
Just sent a £10 donation.
I know how much vets bills can be.
My old dog - no longer with us - was costing £30 every month for her heart tablets plus every 3rd month an extra £25 just to see the vet who only said if she could stay on the tablets.
We had no insurance - but to me she was worth every penny I spent on her.
She was 17 when we had to have her put to sleep.
Oh this is so sad!! I hope that you meet your target and Daisy gets her treatment!! My thoughts are with Janey & Tom and Daisy. I have bought my tickets :) Hugs Annie xXx
All of my 13 cats say,"Let's help! Where do we sign up to help Daisy?"
We pet lovers have to help one another.
Kirsty, You are a good friend to do this for Janey. I live in Kansas, USA and have a question...When I go on Paypal to buy a ticket, will it exchange my American Dollar to the proper currency? I am not sure what to do here. Please advise me at jewelrymkr@gmail.com.
Thanks, ReNae
So sad. We have three Jack Russells and they are adorable, very loving! Away to purchase my tickets, good luck with the fundraising and wishing Daisy a speedy recovery!
I'm a fan of JRT's and an owner of a very naughty one called Eddy. I thankful we've pet insurance 'cos you never know what's round the next corner.
Could you let us know how the total is coming along Kirsty? Are you anywhere near achieving it?
I really really hope us crafters can raise enough to save Daisy Kx
This is a very sad story but fingers crossed with a very happy ending just off to buy my ticket
linda x

Its an awful situation to be in, good luck, i hope Daisy can be saved. I've entered the long way as i having 6 dogs i know and losing one recently i know how hard it can be as well as expensive, whether insured or not Daisy deserves a chance :)
I know what I donated is very little, but I still hope it helps your friend and her dog. Good luck and best wishes, Tammy
What a wonderful idea. Good luck with all of the organisation stuff.
Hugs Ing
Done luvvie. How is Daisy now? What's the op for? So glad that Janey has you to help and that we can all come together to help a fellow crafter and her family. Blessings to you and to Janey and Daisy and all of the Pyes. xx

You are really so kind! Good luck!
I saw this too late, but was wondering what the outcome has been, and is Daisy okay?
