When Im making things for my home, I have to think about how it will fit in and the longevity of the style I'm using. I know that sounds ridiculously shallow but once I have a decor in mind, I don't want to faff with having to deal with the differing trends from week to week.
Ive always liked the shabby chic effect but I'm not really into a massive collage effect. Its all horses for courses, isn't it? I do love other peoples art but with your own creations I think we become overly critical. So Ive opted to keep things relatively simple and have decided to make about half a dozen of this style mini sheet canvas style pieces for my dream dining room to be! Its quite similar to yesterdays piece so the plan is to have 6 different colour paint swooshes and vary the colours of the flowers and the print but keep a similar format, somehow.
I made a replica of this piece here for a giveaway so if you would like to own it, leave a comment with a link to your favourite shabby style website/blog for me to drool over. Im thinking along the lines of Cath Kidston meets Anthropologie meets shaker hearts and stars with a tad of victoriana. Go on, I know you would like to win one - you can keep it or give it as a gift!
You see this god damn lemon drizzle cake? We can't get enough of it in this house. Ok, I can't get enough. Debbie Nicholas has a lot to answer for, including my bulging thighs. Its so quick and easy to make and can be shoved down my throat in approximately 7 minutes with copious amounts of tea to swill it down with. This is our 4th cake in as many weeks - yeeep!
And finally, the Daily Mail ran an article on squished up babies today. Ive been trying to explain to my sister in law this is what I plan to do with baby bumpy loo laa which is still cooking in her tum. They are part freaky but part ingenious. The trick is you have to take the pictures pretty soon after birth as newborns are extra squishy and bendy for up to 7 days after they arrive. I love the first one but the second one has quite a knowing face, don't you think?
Either way, my nephew to be is going to be photographed infinitely because I love him too much already **waves to Kerry, my sis in law - do you like the squishvilles on these bubbas?**
Don't forget to put your name in for a chance to win a little piece if Kirsty Art xx
