Research on Bullying/taunting

Don't read into it, Ellie is not being bullied (well, not at present although has been taunted in the past ...... up until Feb the year) but I am doing some research on child bullying/taunting/intimidation/manipulation - call it what you will. If you can help with an account of a child you know who has been bullied (in the UK) and what action/s, if any, were taken by any authority (school/police/social workers) please email me HERE. You do not have to use real names and real dates but if the account is true, then please let me know. I need to get a grasp of what happens throughout an ordeal from beginning to (hopefully) a happy end.

**ETA: Of course, all correspondence will be treated with the strictest of confidence**

I've emailed you, Kirsty. My daughter is in therapy thanks to bullying. I feel helpless.

I'm not in the UK, but I am 42 now and I have been marked for life as a result of being bullied in the final years of school - not a nice experience to carry around....Bet those girls have no idea the damage they have done to me.....

I am glad "Chris" deleted her comment. She obviously has no idea about bullying her comment "She is as you say in year 9 now and so should be well aware herself of what to do and how to deal with the situation in a mature and level headed manner" is absolutely rubbish. My son has been in situations that mature and level headedness are thrown out of the window because of fear and intimidation. Things like telling a teacher or parents are not done because of the intimidation by the tormentor. I wish people would either not write until they have experience to write about or else think before putting fingers to keyboards. I found your comment, before you had sense to delete it, insulting to my son and my family.

Hi Chris, I receive copies of all blog posts direct to my inbox and was really interested in your comment about Ellie being "mature and level headed to deal with these situations". Im not sure if you are aware but Ellie has a development delay and would never be able to cope with any kind of bullying directed at her.
that being said, this post is for research purposes and is not about Ellie (who is not being intimidated at present). the whole point of this post is to gather real accounts of real situations.
I am aware of how schools operate and how to obtain their policies, but thank you anyway.
All posts are welcome on this blog :)

Belinda, I cant get in touch with you. You askemd me to mail you but I have no contact details. Can you mail me at kirstywiseman at hotmail.com

I too found the comment left by Chris disturbing and insensitive - obviously not someone who knows about Ellie. Wise words from Belinda - and a very rational response from you Kirsty.
