Today is Remembrance Day here in the UK as we pay tribute to our servicemen on the 11th day on the 11th month at the 11th hour.
With our family having such a strong background in the armed forces, the 11th November is a day Im unlikely going to take for granted. Im grateful to my family's heritage and to the thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen who have lost their lives, risked their lives and are still risking their lives today.
I was busy with so many things this morning including a hair appointment which saw me sat in the chair at 11am with then radio went silent. And I was choked at how even the young girls in the salon stopped what they were doing to pay their respects to the two minutes silence. The rushing traffic going by were oblivious to the homage, perhaps forgetting the tribute or not having their radios on . But still, it was two perfect minutes of thanks Of course when you have a picture taken in Photobooth on the mac, everything is back to front isnt it? Im such a dum bum.
Other than my sillyness, its all quite humbling stuff really.
